Cold Weather Safety
January 8th, 2010With the heating season having arrived in most parts of the country, it is important to keep a few things in mind.
- Keep heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn.
- Turn off space heaters when you leave the room or go to bed.
- Make sure heating equipment and chimneys are in good working condition. They should be inspected every year.
- Use a sturdy fireplace screen to prevent embers from flying into the room.
As always, check smoke alarms and ensure that your family has a home fire escape plan.
